The National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) has announced the results of the 2023 Form Four National Examinations. The results were released on January 25, 2024, by the NECTA Executive Secretary, Dr. Said A Mohammed.
A total of 520,558 candidates sat for the examinations in 2023. Of these, 456,975 candidates passed, representing a pass rate of 87.79%. This is an increase of 0.49% from the pass rate of 87.30% in 2022.
The results show that female candidates performed slightly better than male candidates. A total of 243,285 female candidates passed the examinations, representing a pass rate of 87.08%. This is compared to a pass rate of 88.60% for male candidates.
The top-performing subjects in the 2023 examinations were Mathematics, English Language, and Biology. The pass rate for Mathematics was 92.34%, while the pass rate for English Language was 90.12%. The pass rate for Biology was 88.76%.
The NECTA Chairperson, Professor W.A.L. Anangisye, congratulated the candidates who passed the examinations and urged them to continue working hard in their studies. She also commended the teachers and parents for their support in helping the candidates to achieve good results.
